Greyhounds Set to Host Top-Ranked Drury and Southwest Baptist

ON TAP
The UIndy women's basketball team is back at home for a pair of games this weekend after coming back to beat Bellarmine Monday night in overtime. The Hounds host No. 1 ranked Drury Thursday night before hosting Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon.

HOUNDS vs. PANTHERS
Drury has owned the series against the Greyhounds since joining the GLVC 2006, especially of late winning the last six games against UIndy. The two teams faced off just once last year with the game taking place in Springfield. The Panthers, ranked No. 3 at the time, took care of the Hounds no problem on their way to winning 77-47. The Drury defense held the Greyhound offense in check, holding them to just 32 percent shooting on the night.

ABOUT DRURY
One of five undefeated teams in Division II, the top-ranked Panthers come into Nicoson Hall with a 17-0 record and are the only GLVC team to have not lost a game on the road yet this season. Drury currently boasts the No. 5 scoring offense in the country, averaging a shade under 84 points per game this season. The Panthers have eclipsed the century mark once this season, beating Arkansas-Fort Smith 100-56 back in early December.

The Panthers returned three first-team All-GLVC selections from a year ago, including unanimous first-teamer Hailey Diestelkamp, defensive player of the year Daejah Bernard, and freshman of the year Paige Robinson. Diestelkamp is currently fifth in the conference, scoring 17.5 points a night while also ranking in the top-10 in the league in rebounds with nearly seven boards a game.

HOUNDS vs. BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist is in their first year as a full-time member of the GLVC. When UIndy and SBU tip-off Thursday night, it will be the first time the two teams have squared off in women's basketball. The Greyhounds beat Lindenwood in their first-ever meeting last Thursday in Nicoson Hall.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
After being picked to finish 12th in the preseason by GLVC coaches, the Bearcats have a record of 9-7 heading into this weekend. SBU was welcomed to the conference with their first game coming against Drury and their most recent game has also been against the Panthers, dropping both contests. The Bearcats have picked up conference wins against McKendree, Missouri S&T, and UMSL.

The Bearcats' leading scorer, Bailey Rezabek, currently finds herself fourth in the GLVC in scoring at 18.6 points per game while also being 10th in the conference in field goal percentage, shooting at a 50.2 percent clip. SBU also has one of the best three-point shooters in the conference in grad transfer Alexus Johnson, but the Greyhounds will be up to the task as they hold their opponents to 30.5 percent from beyond the arc.

BEING EFFICIENT
UIndy's +5.8 scoring margin in good for 4th in the GLVC, but the Greyhounds have bucked the three-point trend on their way to winning. The three-point shot has become a big part across basketball in past years. Despite a 12-4 record, UIndy's offense has come from inside the arc as the Hounds rank nearly 300th in Division II in three-pointers attempted as the Hounds sport an efficient offense.

HOT START
After Monday night's win, UIndy has already matched their win total from a season ago. The Hounds are five wins away from tying their most wins in a season under Kristin Wodrich that they set in her first season back in 2016-17

SEEING DOUBLE
UIndy has seen success so far this season, proving to have one of the better frontcourts in the region. The front court of Emma Benoit, Dasia Evans, and McKenzy Telfair have combined for four double-doubles so far this season. Benoit was the first one of the year when she went for 16 points and 20 rebounds against Davenport. Telfair was the most recent one, scoring 11 points in the team's win over UIS while recording a career-high 11 rebounds in the win.
PLAYING BOTH ENDS
The Greyhounds efficient offense has them as one of the best teams in the GLVC in terms of field goal percentage this season, shooting at a 44.4% clip. UIndy also gets in done on the defensive end, holding their opponents to 36.4% shooting, tops in the GLVC. The Greyhounds are the only team to rank top-5 in both categories.

LOCKDOWN D
UIndy has been consistently holding their opponents in tact this season including in the three games they have lost. The Hounds are just one of four GLVC teams this season to hold each of their opponents under 50% shooting in every game this season.

SWAT TEAM
The Hounds are second in the GLVC in blocks this year, totaling 72 rejections on the season. Emma Benoit leads the way with 21 blocks while McKenzy Telfair trails Benoit by one with 20 blocks this year. Both Benoit and Telfair are top 10 in the conference in blocks in the GLVC.

CALL IN THE RESERVES
One of the strengths so far for the Greyhounds this season has been the help from their bench. After losing only two to graduation and one to a transfer after last year, plenty of experience returned for Kristin Wodrich this year. The Hounds only have one player who ranks in the top 20 of the conference in minutes played this season with Laura Thomas playing just over 31 minutes a game.

GREEN LIGHT FROM DOWNTOWN
Freshman Marissa Knobloch came off the bench against Southern Indiana two weeks ago and immediately made an impact on the game. The Marengo, Ill. native missed her first attempt from deep but did not let that detour her from shooting when presented the opportunity. Knobloch went on to drain three triples in the half, the most she has made in a game in her brief collegiate career.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Having one of the best front courts in the region has paid off for the Greyhounds this season. The team's +4.9 rebounding differential is good for fifth in the GLVC, but UIndy has not lost a game this year when they out-rebound their opponent, going 9-0 in those games.

EYEING A MILESTONE
Head coach Kristin Wodrich recently coached her 100th game as the leader of the women's basketball program. Wodrich is one win away from winning her 50th game as the Greyhounds head coach.

TAKING DOWN GOLIATH
The Hounds will be looking to take down their first top-ranked opponent in program history Thursday night when Drury comes to Nicoson Hall. UIndy has not beaten a ranked opponent since 2016-17 when they beat two ranked foes in Bellarmine and USI. The last time they faced a No. 1 team came back 2015 when they lost to Lewis in Romeoville. Michigan Tech (No. 3) is the highest-ranked opponent UIndy has ever beaten, which came back in Nov. 2011.

LAST TIME OUT
The Hounds put together a second half comeback Monday night in Knights Hall when they went erased a 13-point deficit to beat Bellarmine in Louisville. McKenzy Telfair and Laura Thomas each scored 15 points in the win as the Greyhounds swept the season series against Bellarmine for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
