LEXINGTON, Ky. – The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its Team Academic Awards on Monday afternoon, with an astounding 1,313 programs between NCAA, NAIA, JUCO and high school schools across the country.
 
With its 3.69 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year, the UIndy volleyball team was not only among the 57 percent of DII programs to earn the honor, but was among the top 36 to also claim AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll distinction. The Hounds also received GIECO Team Academic All-GLVC accolades, with 12 individuals earning an Academic All-GLVC selection.
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

The AVCA, with its headquarters in Lexington, Ky., is managed by Associations International. The mission of the AVCA is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development. With a membership of almost 7,000 and counting, the AVCA provides a professional network for those individuals and companies dedicated to enhancing and promoting the sport.
