Switzer’s PR Headlines Hounds' Day in Louisville

LOUSIVILLE, Ky. – The UIndy cross country team traveled south to Louisville, Ky., Saturday for the massive Live in Lou Classic, a race that featured 62 schools for the men's 8K and 55 schools for the women's 5K. The race was by far the largest race the team has competed in this season. The men finished 35th while the women came in at 25th.

A 13th-place finish by Chris Switzer (25:09.4) led the men's side and netted him a lifetime PR in the 8K. He did not stand alone in the PR group, with Andrew Goecker coming in at 26:01.1 and in 73rd place, besting his previous 8K PR by more than 20 seconds. Jordan Parkinson (27:42.5) would improve upon his time from the IWU Twilight race by 10 seconds while finishing in 244th.

Devon Whitaker (28:19.4) and Tyler Nolan (28:42.8) took home 292nd and 318th, respectively. Brandon Albin (30:13.4) and Aaron Trejo (30:58.5) wrapped the men's day in 367th and 388th. Trejo's finish also landed him a lifetime PR in the 8K.

The women's side featured the top five all landing in the 100s. They were led by Hannah Wells reaching the sub-20 minute mark for the first time in her college career, coming in at 19:56.6 and in 109th place. Just short of that same mark was Emma Treibic,  s 20:01.1 finished landed her in 116th. Kaylin Casner (20:82.2) crossed the line at 160th and Shae Biddle landed 20 spots later at 180th with a time of 20:38.9.

Kelsey Dugger finished just a second later than Casner in 20.39.6 in 182nd. And to round out the day for the women's 5K, Trinity Gleitz crossed the line in 20:52.6 for 212th and Jazlyn Gallardo-Cortez finished in 21:56.0 to earn her 286th place.

HOUNDS BYTES
Head Coach Brad Robinson on the team's performance...
"Today went well. We had some good showings across the board on both sides... it was very productive day. We did sit the majority of our top athletes in preparation for the meet next week at Alabama, but it was a big experience meet for a lot of athletes or athletes that have been sick and injured; a great opportunity to shine and develop and show where they're at currently at this point in time."

Robinson on Switzer...
"That was awesome for Chris. It's the same course where he had previously run his lifetime best. To see him come back and run even faster was fantastic. It shows that the work that he's put is paying off. He's on track, doing all the things we ask of him. Being in grad school is a little different than undergrad so showing that he can still handle the workload just the same is awesome to see and just a great example for the team to carry through as well."
