ALLENDALE, Mich. – After downing the No. 4-seeded McKendree Bearcats in the NCAA Midwest Regional first round Thursday morning, the UIndy women's soccer team is slated to play the nation's No. 1 team, the Grand Valley State Lakers, on Saturday morning.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Ranked No. 1 in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches poll, the Lakers sit at No. 2 in the nation in points scored per game (9.95). Averaging 3.14 goals per game, the Lakers have a shot on goal percentage of .430.
Led by Greta Deloach, who has 19 goals on the season along with six assists, the Lakers have scored 69 goals this fall. Kendall Robertson and Callie Rich have split the time in the net for the Lakers, allowing just 12 goals over, and posting 46 saves.
LAST MEETING
The Hounds last met the Lakers on Dec. 6 of 2019 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament, where GVSU took the 9-0 win. The Hounds posted 12 saves to GVSU's 27 shots on goal.
