WACO, Texas— UIndy football student-athlete Toriano Clinton was named to the 2021 AFCA Division II Coaches' All-America Second Team, announced by the American Football Coaches Association Wednesday. The Chicago native becomes the 13th player in program history and first-ever running back to garner All-America accolades from the AFCA.
 
CLINTON HIGHLIGHTS
Second in Division II in rushing yards per game (169.4) ... Also ranked in the top 10 in the nation in all-purpose yards per game (3rd, 184.6), rushing yards per carry (4th, 7.4), total rushing yards (6th, 1525) and rushing TDs (9th, 17)  ... Racked up his impressive counting stats despite sustaining a season-ending injury in week 9 ... Needed just eight games to break the program's single-season rushing record ... Twice broke the program's single-game rushing mark, first with 270 yards at Hillsdale in week 2 and later with 287 vs McKendree in week 6; added four rushing TDs in each of those record-breaking performances ... Named D2Football.com Offensive Player of the Week after the Hillsdale contest ... Also broke the NCAA Division II record for rushing yards in a quarter, racking up 197 yards in the first quarter at Southwest Baptist in week 5 ... Ranks third among all active DII players in career rushing yards (3,537) and second in career kickoff return average (30.9) ... UIndy program leader in career rushing yards per attempt (7.9) while ranking third in total career TDs (42) ...
