INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team found themselves ranked third in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' poll, released Wednesday. The Greyhounds earned 171 points and three first-place votes.
The Greyhounds showed their teeth through an
exquisite season in the fall of 2019, ending the year with a 15-5-1 record. The Hounds made their first NCAA appearance since 2009, notching a program first with two tournament wins -- both 1-nil finals – on the way to a Sweet 16 appearance.
The Hounds return reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Year
Taylor Peck, who posted a conference-best nine goals and six game winners last season. In net, UIndy welcomes back 2019 GLVC Freshman of the Year
Sophia Saucerman. The former Cathedral High School standout compiled a 0.87 goals-against average her rookie campaign.
Three returning All-GLVC Third Team selections also add depth to the Hounds roster in
Alexi Hardie,
Maria Herrero and
Dana Youssef.
Holly Cox, the 2019 GLVC Coach of The Year, and her Greyhounds will open at home on Friday, Feb. 26 against GLVC regular-season champions McKendree at 5 p.m. ET. No spectaors will be allowed in the stadium.
