Box Score 2 WESTFIELD, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team split their doubleheader with Missouri S&T today at Grand Park. The Hounds dropped a close first match 3-2, and took their second win of the season in game 2, 7-4.
"It's good to get a win," said head coach Al Ready. "We've got to keep riding the momentum."
GAME ONE, 3-2
After going down by three runs in the second inning, the Hounds made a third inning push to tie the game ending the top half, the Miners battled back to secure their win to end the third.
Brandon DeWitt led the Hounds with two hits and one RBI.
Trey Smith and
Alex Vela scored the two runs for the Hounds.
Corey Bates took the loss for the Hounds (0-3) striking out four in 6.0 innings pitched.
Rian Markes (1-0) took the win for the S&T, stiking out eight In 7.0 inning pitched. Eli Gross is credited with the save for the Miners.
GAME TWO, 7-4
The Greyhounds woke up the bats in game two, posting 11 hits and scoring seven runs to secure their first GLVC win of the 2021 campaign.
Brandon DeWitt continued to lead the charge for the Greyhounds in the second matchup of the day, slamming three balls and posting three RBIs in five at bats.
Hunter Waning added two RBI, while
Isaac Bair a pair of hits.
Xavier Rivas took the win for UIndy. Striking out four in 4.0 innings pitched.
Chaney Morgan was credited with the save.
Nate Wodka (1-1) took the loss for the Miners.
