INDIANAPOLISÂ - Coming off of a
double-digit win against a top-five team last week and then sweeping
DII National Player of the Week honors, the UIndy women's lacrosse team (3-0, 0-0 GLVC) hosted the Findlay Oilers (0-1, 0-0 GMAC) for a midday contest on Saturday in Key Stadium. The Hounds scored a season-high 22 goals against just three from the Oilers.
Peyton Romig led the Hounds with five of her own shots sinkings in the back of the net on six attempts.
INS & OUTS
The Greyhounds were able to take a commanding lead to kick off the game, scoring nine unanswered goals in the contest's first 20 minutes. Romig took part in three of those scores, while
Jess Soenen and
Mackenzie Winn each scored their first goal of the season during that same time span.
The Oilers were able to drop a shot into the net with just under 10 minutes left in the first half for their first goal of the day, but
Abigail Lagos tossed in a pair of goals less than one minute apart to bring ter lead into double-digits.
Cassidy King was credited two saves in the first half as the Hounds' goalkeeper, only having to defend three Findlay shots for a 14-1 lead.
The Greyhounds gave a lot of minutes to several fresh faces in the second half of play, with several student-athletes notching their first goal of the season. Lauren Hardoy and
Grace Gunneson were able to both net a pair of goals in the Hounds' efforts, each tossing a goal within the second half's first 10 minutes of action. UIndy would knock in the games final four goals, each going to a different Greyhound.
Audrey Moran was the Hounds' defender at the net in the second half, earning a save while allowing only two goals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Seven different Hounds marked their first goal of the season against the Oilers.
- Saturday's win marks the second time this season that Romig finished with 10 or more draw controls.
- The Greyhounds totaled a season-high 33 shots on goal along with another season high in assists (9).

The UIndy Greyhounds will be back in Indianapolis next week to take on Notre Dame College, playing at Key Stadium for the second game in a row. The Greyhounds will face off against the Falcons on Saturday, March 13 at 12 p.m.
