INDIANAPOLIS –
Trey Smith hits a bomb out of right field, 2 RBI and a run rule win. Along with the eruption of cheers from the Greyhound bench.
Reid Werner pitched his fourth complete game of the season and second complete game this week (vs. Lindenwood on Tuesday, 04/20) in taking the win over McKendree in game one, 5-1.
GAME ONE – UINDY 5 MCK 1
Werner struck out five and walked one in taking the win for the Hounds, bringing his season total to 68 strikeouts and only 8 walks.
Isaac Bair posted his second homerun of the series to put UIndy on the board, then a big sixth inning propelled by a 2 RBI single by
Caleb Vaughn put the Hounds up 5-1.
Defensively Vaughn and
Will Smithey had five putouts each, while
Bo Minor had two assists and four putouts.
The Greyhounds were out hit seven to five, and left three stranded throughout the game.
Logan Boente (2-3) took the loss for the Bearcats, striking out eight and walking two in giving up five runs to the Hounds in 5.1 inning pitched.
GAME TWO – UINDY 13 MCK 2
A two RBI single in the bottom of the sixth by
Alex Vela secured the series win for the Hounds. UIndy outhit the Bearcats 13 to five including two doubles by Bair and
Brian Keeney, along with a RBI Triple by
Bo Minor.
Smith led the charge with three hits and four RBI.
Corey Bates took the win for the Hounds in striking out six Bearcats and walking one in taking the win. Bates pitched all 7 innings in taking the win.
Evan Spears (1-3) took the loss for McKendree, striking out 2 hounds and giving up five runs in 5.0 inning pitched.

The Hounds will travel to GLVC Rival Southern Indiana on April 30, where they will kick off the three day series at 4 p.m. in Evansville.
