Wodrich Welcomes 2021-22 Newcomers

INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy women's basketball head coach Kristin Wodrich announced three new student-athletes to her program Thursday. Davenport-transfer and former Miss Indiana Basketball candidate Madison Jones will join incoming-freshmen Liv Becker and Elana Wells on the Greyhounds' 2021-22 roster. See below for a snapshot of each signee and a quote from Coach Wodrich.

Elana Wells
G | 5'6" | Elign, IL | Burlingont Central HS
- Four-year starter; all-conference and team MVP all four seasons
- Garnered All-State accolades her final two years
- Kane County Preps Player of the Year as a senior as well as Burlington Central's 2020-21 Female Athlete Of The Year
- Averaged 14.9 points for her career, including 17.7 ppg her final season

"Elana Wells is a dynamic point guard who scored over 1,000 points in high school. She comes in with great knowledge of the game and a work ethic that is second to none. "


Liv Becker
G/F | 5'9" | Wilmete, IL | New Trier HS
- Two-time All-Central Suburban League
- Named All-Area Third Team by the Pioneer Press
- Named team captain as a senior
- Part of the 2020 North Region Champions of Steph Curry's Underrated Tour
- Honor roll student
 
Coach Wodrich on Becker …
"Olivia Becker is a versatile player who can play multiple positions," Wodrich noted. "She is a matchup problem every possession, being able to score both on the block and the perimeter.
 
"And just like Elana, Liv is an extremely hard worker."


Madison Jones
G | 5'7" | Thorntown, IN | Western Boone HS | Davenport University
- Led Davenport in scoring (16.0 ppg) and steals (2.6 spg) as a true freshman in 2019-20, good for fifth and third in the GLIAC, respectively.
- Western Boone High School's all-time leading scorer with 2,125 career points
- Led the entire state of Indiana in scorer as a senior at WB (28.2 ppg)
- Poured in 59 points versus North Montgomery in January of 2019, good for the fourth-highest recorded single-game point total in IHSAA girls' basketball history
 
Coach Wodrich on Jones…
"Madison Jones is a transfer from Davenport. She comes with a lot of game experience, scoring over 15 points a game as a freshman. Madison is an Indiana kid who loves to play ball and will be a great fit in our program."
