EAST LANSING, MICH. – Friday action once again for UIndy cross country, this time taking on the MSU Spartan Invitational hosted by DI Michigan State. The Hounds faced a stacked field with several DI programs joining the race. The women's squad captured 11th place in the 6K out of 20 schools while the men's came in at 12th out of 22 schools for their 8K.
Claire Eaton continued to have a great start to her season with an 18th-place finish to lead the Greyhounds in a time of 22:32.9. Following a minute later was a pair of Hounds in
Melissa Spencer (23:46.7) and
Eline Pinter (23:48.0), who grabbed 71st and 72nd place on the leaderboards.
Hannah Stein crossed the line in 101st with a time of 24:31.8. Rounding out the top five for the Hounds was
Mariah Davis in 116th in 24:53.1. The final two finishes for the top seven of the Hounds came back-to-back in 119th and 120th, with
Hannah Wells and
Hanna Stamm rounding out the day for the women's team.
Like the first two meets of the year, there was more pack action for the men's side with
Chris Switzer leading once again with a 42nd-place finish in 26:15.9.
Andrew Bixler followed shortly after in 69th with a time of 26:57.5.
Will Reid just nearly missed the sub-27 mark with a time of 27:08.7 to land him in 87th place.
Blake Ellis notched his first career sub-28 8k with a time of 27:46.9 as he crossed in 122nd. Rounding out the top five was
Noah Kurtz, who like Reid was a couple seconds short of a major mark in the 8K finishing in 136th with a time of 28:03.6. The last of the top seven was
Hayden Baldwin (28:25.2) who wrapped up his day in 155th and
Harnoor Dosanjh (28:47.9) who landed in 174th.

Another big DI race is ahead of the Greyhounds as they will travel to Louisville, Ky., for the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday Oct. 2.
