The time has finally arrived for the University of Indianapolis women's basketball team to open up the 2022-23 campaign at Nicoson Hall. The Hounds are set to begin the new season with the GLVC/G-MAC challenge against Malone on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. which will be followed by a game against No. 5 Ashland on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Last season, UIndy went 10-17 overall with a 7-11 mark in the GLVC. This season, the Hounds welcome six newcomers and a brand new coaching staff, with Friday being
Marc Mitchell's first game as the new head coach of the women's basketball program. The Hounds garnered preseason experience by battling Illinois State and Northern Kentucky in exhibition games.
Malone leads the all-time series 2-1 heading into Friday, with the Pioneers having won the matchup last year against the Greyhounds. Ashland has corralled a 21-17 series lead over the Hounds and also defeated UIndy last season.
In preparation for the season, Mitchell and fifth-year guard
Mya Scheidt sat down and discussed their thoughts on the upcoming season, click
