KENOSHA, Wis. ā The UIndy cross country teams battled snow and temperatures in the mid-20s on Saturday morning at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course for the 2022 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, hosted by Parkside up in Kenosha, Wis.

The top headline for the Hounds came from
Melissa Spencer of the women's squad who earned All-Region honors after she finished in 19th place with her time of 22:08.1. With this, she is the first Greyhound since Lauren Bailey in 2019 to earn this prestigious accolade.

The men began the morning with the 10k race and the team corralled a 19th place finish out of 28 competing programs. The women followed up with the 6k race and ended in 14th place out of 31 schools.

MEN'S RECAP
AJ Goecker was the top finisher for the men's team with his 105th place finish at 33:30.8.
Blake Ellis was the next man up for the Hounds at 112th (33:38.7) while
Nyc Sigmon (116th, 33:41.9) and
Andrew Bixler (120th, 33:49.7) were close behind. The trio of
Harnoor Dosanjh (129th, 34:06.7),
Nico Barrett (135th, 34:14.8), and
Alex Freeman (153rd, 35:04.5) rounded out the top-seven finishers for UIndy.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Led by Spencer's 19th place finish, the next Greyhound behind her was
Brianna Lawson in 47th at a time of 22:55.0. This time for Lawson smashes her previous UIndy 6k personal record she set at the GLVC Championships back on Nov. 5 of 23:33.8.
Hannah Wells rolled out a 76th place finish (23:20.2) while
Mariah Davis (105th, 23:47.3),
Claire Wigger (129th, new 6k PR at 24:17.1), and
Kaylin Casner (156th, 24:56.8) rounded out the remainder of the field for UIndy.

The Hounds will now wait for the selection show to see what the qualifying field looks like at for the 2022 DII Championships at the Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash., on Dec. 2.
