EAST PEORIA, Ill. – UIndy volleyball student-athletes
MaKenna Barnhart and
Grace Hegwood were named to the All-GLVC Second Team following the 2022 regular season, the league announced at the postseason banquet on Wednesday night.

It is Barnhart's second straight all-conference honor, while Hegwood was recognized for the first time. Per GLVC policy, coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Barnhart, in the midst of her swan song as the Greyhound libero, ranked third this fall with 4.88 digs per set among GLVC players. The Fort Wayne, Ind., native recorded 20+ digs on nine occasions, including 27 in the team's four-set victory over William Jewell in early October. The redshirt-senior also chipped in 85 assists and 33 service aces.

Serving as the UIndy libero each of the last four seasons, Barnhart is currently third in program history with 1,775 scoops. Â

Hegwood was a constant on the outside for the Hounds this season, averaging 2.88 kills and 2.48 digs per set in 26 matches. The Greenwood, Ind., product recorded nine double-doubles, including an impressive 15-kill, 17-dig performance last Saturday at Maryville in the regular season finale.

The fourth-year player attacked at a .221 clip in 97 sets, while also tallying 33 service aces and 30 total blocks.
In addition, junior
Hannah Sabotin was named the team's recipient of the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award.Â

UIndy battles third-seeded Rockhurst in the final quarterfinal match of the GLVC Championship Tournament tomorrow night at 9:30 p.m. ET from the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill.
