INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of special moments highlighted a jam-packed weekend for UIndy track & field. Friday night in Boston,
Berenice Cleyet-Merle continued her assault on the record books, while back home on Saturday, UIndy honored 12 seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program.
Prior to the Gerald "Jerry" England Invitational, UIndy recognized its entire 2021-22 senior class. The seniors that were recognized this year are:

FRIDAY
Traveling all the way to Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invite, Cleyet-Merle added yet another record to her collection...but it was not just any record.
With a time of 4:31.99, she not only shattered her own UIndy benchmark, but also snapped the Division II record as well as the French national record. The previous national record time (4:34.22 by Frederique Quentin) had stood for 24 years, but has now been broken twice in the last week-plus, first by Claudia Saunders on Feb. 4 (4:33.35) and now by Cleyet-Merle.This is the fourth record-breaking performance just this season for the French phenom, having reset UIndy marks in the 3K, 800 and as a part of the distance medley relay.
Cleyet-Merle was not the only Greyhound to leave the UIndy campus on Friday, with the distance crew taking on the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., on Friday and Saturday. In the 800, both
Emily Sonderman and
Devon Whitaker crossed with PRs. In the mile,
Eline Pinter eclipsed the sub five-minute mark for the first time (4:58.17).
Will Reid and
Claire Eaton both accomplished big milestone PRs in the 5K, with Reid crossing the line in under 15 minutes for the first time and Eaton hitting sub-17 minutes, crushing her previous best 5K by half a minute.
Melissa Spencer joined in on the 5K fun with a seven-second PR.
The UIndy throwers also traveled, taking on the Hoosier Hills meet at Indiana University.
Zoe Pentecost in weight throw hit the 19-meter mark once again, and
Michaela Adams netted herself a PR in weight with a toss of 15.46.
SATURDAY
A plethora of Hounds returned to the ARC for the Jerry England Invitational, the last home meet of the year before the GLVC Championships. The meet kicked off with the field events at 1:30 p.m. after the conclusion of the Senior Day festivities.
In pole vault,
Treyton Arnold captured the win with a mark of 4.63 meters, while on the women's side,
Brittney Clark took first, clearing 3.80 meters.
In long jump,
Makala Pfefferkorn set a new personal best with a leap of 5.29 meters. She kept things rolling into triple jump, winning the event with a 11.19 mark for another PR. Right behind her with a career first jump past 11 meters was
Sabrina Robison, landing in the sand at 11.01 meters.
In men's weight throw,
Jacob Brouse with a yell, destroyed his previous PR, crossing into the 16-meter range for the first time with a 16.44-meter toss. While on the women's side, Pentecost took home another victory in the ARC.
Audra Hogan increased her PR by .12 meters while
MaKenna Maschino extended hers by nearly a meter, breaking the 14-meter barrier.
Keeton Adams took first in the shot put with a provisional throw of 16.86 meters, outdistancing his own coach in the process.
Evan Gaylor joined in on the PR parade with a 15.71 toss.
Cameron Smith as well hit a shot put PR. In the women's shot put side, Maschino made it a double-PR day with a 10.97 meter mark.
The hurdlers came to play in the ARC with
Lindsey Wormuth taking the victory on the women's side, netting herself a PR. She was joined by Alliyah Reese and
Maddi Turner, who both knotched PRs.
Cole Hurt on the men's 60-meter hurdles cracked a PR as well.
In the 200,
Hallie Montgomery continued to improve upon her time, crossing at 26.25 seconds. While in the 400,
Cole Hurt captured a PR with a time of 55.38.In the mile, the trio of
Brandon Albin,
Kayden Black and
Jazlyn Gallardo-Cortez all crossed the line with PRs to their name.
As the 3K came around so did the PRs with
Chris Switzer,
Logan Wong and
Nico Barrett all finished with personal bests. While on the women's side, Spencer added another PR to her weekend, beating her old time by almost 15 seconds.

There is one final meet for the Hounds before conference. The team will travel east to Springfield, Ohio to challenge the Wittenberg Invitational.
