FINDLAY, Ohio – In the last opportunity to etch PRs and provos before the GLVC Championships, UIndy track & field hit the road, splitting its forces between the Findlay Flag City Open on Friday and the Wittenberg Invite on Saturday.
FRIDAY
Majority of the field crew traveled to Findlay, Ohio, and the star among them was
Brittney Clark, who became the first-ever Greyhound woman to vault over the four-meter mark with a impressive mark 4.03 meters. This leap upped her own school record of 3.98 meters, set on Feb 27, 2021. Clark now ranks 13th in Division II, well positioned for an invitational to nationals.
On the men's side of pole vault
Cade Priddy came home with a PR, hitting 4.60 meters. Just above him was
Treyton Arnold, who cleared a season-best 4.75 meters to earn fourth place.
Alongside the vaulters, the throwing group was out in full force hoping to get a little more practice competing before GLVCs. Highlight performances came from
Tyler Gilbert, who hit 15.95 in weight throw, and
Jacob Brouse, who broke off a 14.15 shot put mark, both resulting in PRs.
Keeton Adams placed second in the with a mark of 16.80.
On the women's side,
Zoe Pentecost returned to the ring to win the women's weight throw with a toss of 18.81 meters.
SATURDAY
Just a day later, the track side of the team also traveled to the Buckeye State for the Wittenberg Invite in Springfield, Ohio. The biggest draw of the day going to the men's mile, with every single Greyhound running the event hitting a personal best. Seven runners hit the track in the mile, including
Andrew Bixler,
Blake Ellis,
Logan Wong,
Noah Kurtz,
Aaron Trejo,
Kayden Black and
Brandon Albin. Bixler led the way with a time of 4:22.07. Alongside the men's slew of PRs,
Jazlyn Gallardo-Cortez added to the mile PR party.
The train kept rolling for the men's team with
Nico Barrett and
Hayden Baldwin both crossing with new PRs in the 5K. Barrett fell just short of the sub-16-minute mark with a time of 16:00.67. The women's side of the 5K featured a big milestone, with
Hanna Stamm hitting her first collegiate sub-19-minute 5K, alongside Gabrielle Harell who also notched a PR.
Sticking with the distance runners,
Hannah Wells captured a new personal best in the 3K. The 800 featured a lone PR for both the men and the women, with Emma Triebec and Black added to their personal record books.
The shorter distances did not disappoint as freshman
Hallie Montgomery crossing the line of the 200 meter, not only with a win but a PR as well.

It's nearly showtime for UIndy track & field, as will will once again play host tto the upcoming GLVC Indoor Championships. The conference meet is scheduled for Feb 26-27 in the UIndy Athletics and Recreation Center.
