Meyer Secures Third NCAA Title on Opening Day of Outdoor Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. — University of Indianapolis junior, Alex Meyer secured his third National Title in the men's long jump on Thursday to open the Greyhound campaign at the 2026 NCAA DII Track and Field National Championships in Emporia, Kan.

Meyer's opening jump of 7.55m put him in third in the competition following the first full round of the second flight. Meyer used his second jump of 7.70m, the same distance that gave him his first National Title, to move him into the top spot. The Angola, Ind. native surpassed his lead mark on his fifth attempt with a leap of 7.78m, placing him 16cm ahead of the rest of the field.

Meyer now joins Randy Heisler as the second Greyhound to claim three individual NCAA DII titles.

Mackenzie VanBibber outperformed her seeding, moving up from a projected 17th to a 12th-place finish. VanBibber easily cleared the opening two bars, earning her a spot in the top-15 after clearing 3.80m.

In the 3,000m steeplechase preliminary round, Felix Rivet earned the automatic bid to Friday's final, finishing second in his heat with a time of 8:54.26.
