Box Score BOWLING GREEN, Ohio– The No. 2 UIndy women's tennis team opened up their spring slate today away from home, traveling east to Bowling Green State University for their fifth-ever matchup with the Falcons. They recreated their last match with another 5-2 victory in the Greyhounds' favor.
Action kicked off with doubles play as the Falcons jumped ahead with a 6-3 win over the pair of
Kristina Lagoda and
Maria Solnyshkina. The Hounds battled back, taking two tiebreakers to secure the doubles point. The first came in the No. 1 spot, with
Anna Novikova and
Maissane Aik taking a 7-3 tiebreak.
Isabella Dunlap and
Sofia Sharonova kept that rolling with a 7-5 tiebreak.
In singles, Aik brought the heat with a straight-sets win 6-3, 6-3 to put the Hounds up 2-0. Novikova replicated that finish in her own style with an identical 6-3, 6-3 straight-sets win to put the Hounds within one of the victory.
Lagoda was the one to bring the dagger, taking a close first set, 7-5, then wrapping it up quickly in set two, 6-2. With the match win already confirmed, the teams played it out with Dunlap falling after a quality match 7-6, 6-3. The freshman
Lea Cakarevic, in her official Greyhound debut, put on a show, winning in straight sets 7-5, 7-6. To finish the evening, Solnyshkina fell 7-6, 6-4.
