EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Teams, officials and fans at the 2022 GLVC Softball Championship Tournament have endured two consecutive days of washouts. But play is finally expected to get going on Saturday though in a different format than originally planned. The eight-team event will shift to a single-elimination format, with four quarterfinals games scheduled for Saturday followed by seminfinals and final on Sunday. UIndy's opening-round matchup versus Rockhurst is now scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. local time, 5 p.m. Eastern.

The UIndy softball team enters the postseason this week, as the 2022 GLVC Championship Tournament kicks off Thursday at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill. The defending conference tourney champs earned the two-seed in the eight-team, double-elimination bracket and are scheduled to open versus seventh-seeded Rockhurst University on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET, weather permitting.

Ranked No. 3 in the latest DII coaches poll, the Hounds racked up 45 wins in the regular season, good for their eighth 40-win campaign in the last 10 complete seasons*. Their 24-4 record in conference play put them two games back of regular-season-champ Southern Indiana (26-2). Drury and Lindenwood tied for third in the final standings at 21-7.
