AUSTIN, Texas – Three student-athletes at the University of Indianapolis were selected to the 2021-22 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® women's at-large teams, officials announced on Wednesday.
The trio of Hounds appearing on the list include
Marizel van Jaarsveld of the women's swimming team,
Anna Novikova of the women's tennis team, and
Catharina Graf of the women's golf team. Most notably, van Jaarsveld headlined the release by being named as the Academic All-America
® Team Member of the Year for Division II and a First Team honoree. Novikova was also a First Team selection while Graf earned a spot on the Second Team.
Van Jaarsveld, who has been a four-time NCAA DII National Champion during her time with the Greyhounds, set a new milestone in 2021 by being the first Greyhound female in UIndy swimming & diving program history to win a national title. Her success doesn't stop there, as she has also been a GLVC champion 14 times, a First Team All-GLVC honoree 11 times, and an All-American selection 19 times. Recently, she was tabbed as a CSCAA Scholar All-America honoree for a third time in her career. Van Jaarsveld is studying Psychology with a 3.87 GPA.
Novikova, who was recently named as the ITA DII Senior Player of the Year, helped lead the UIndy women's tennis team to a second straight NCAA DII National Semifinal appearance this past season. Over her career, she has been named as a three-time ITA All-American in doubles, a two-time ITA All-American in singles, and also to the 2021 ITA Collegiate All-Star Team with her role in a No. 1 ranking in doubles. She also holds the title of being the 2022 GLVC Player of the Year and an All-GLVC honoree three times in her career. Novikova earned a 3.87 GPA during undergrad (Business Administration & Marketing) along with a 4.00 GPA in her graduate work (Finance).
Graf, who was a 2022 GLVC medalist and First Team All-GLVC selection, helped lead the Hounds to a 10th straight women's golf conference title this past season after shooting a 73 at the GLVC match play final. Graf has thrived in the classroom as she has earned Academic All-GLVC honors twice and the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award two different times. She also boasts being a 2020 WGCA All-American Scholar and a recipient of the Elite 90 award at the 2022 NCAA DII Women's Golf Championship. Graf holds a 4.00 GPA in Finance.
