ALLENDALE, Mich. – It is tournament time for the UIndy women's tennis team as they travel north to the campus of Grand Valley State for the ITA DII Midwest Regional. Action kicks off on Saturday Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. with singles, which consists of six rounds of match play. Doubles commences later that day at 2:30 p.m. which is five rounds of play.
The expectation is high for the Greyhounds with the singles having
Anna Novikova ranked as the No. 1 seed in the A draw. Following her is
Lea Cakarevic who arrives as the No. 3 seed. Massianne Aik and
Sofia Sharonova come in at No. 4 and No. 9.
Doubles keeps that expectation with the paring of Novikova and Sharonova coming in at No. 1 and Cakarevic and Aik are the No. 2 seed.
This is a tournament the Greyhounds saw success at last season, with the pairing of Novikova and
Isabella Dunlap being crowned as doubles champions. The pairing also were the two finalists in the singles tournament with Dunlap taking the victory in that face-off.
