INDIANAPOLIS—The UIndy football team dipped to No. 9 in this week's Super Region 3 rankings. The Greyhounds are looking to make their second straight playoff appearance and eighth overall since 2012.
The each region's top seven teams will qualify for the Division II playoffs, with the field announced at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 12 on NCAA.com. However, the NCAA allows for what's called earned access. Siting the NCAA Division II Manual (18.4.3.4), earned access to the playoffs will be granted a conference if a conference's highest-ranked team is in the top nine of the final super region rankings on the Selection Sunday.
Therefore, a No. 8 or No. 9 ranking of the highest-ranked GLVC team (i.e. UIndy) will still secure a spot in the seven-team Super Region 3 bracket.
