EAST PEORIA, Ill. -Â The UIndy men's soccer team has collected five post season honors from the GLVC for the 2023 season, announced Thursday.
Michael Tselios and
Pierre Lurot headline the honors for UIndy with a spot on the All-GLVCÂ first team.
Tselios leads the Greyhounds in points with 17. The Greece transplant has four goals and seven assists to his name. Named the captain for the 2023 season, Tselios has started in all 17 matches for the Hounds and has remained on the pitch for a total of 1346 minutes. He has also attempted 44 shots, 17 on goal this season.
Lurot is a key part of the UIndy defensive front. The French native has started in all 17 games and has 1521 minutes for the season. Lurot was also named the GLVC Defensive Player of the week on Sept. 9th. Besides his efforts on defense, Lurot has completed one goal and two assists during the 2023 season. He also has 16 shot attempts, six on goal, this season.
UIndy also appears on the second team with
Kabiru Gafar.
Owen Atkison and
Bobby Turner earned a spot on the third team.Â
The league also recognized 13 GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award honorees and one team award winner. Atkison was selected from UIndy for the second year in a row. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
