INDIANAPOLIS – Former two-time GLVC Defensive Player of the Year, Makel Rasheed, signed a contract with the Indy Eleven, Indianapolis' United Soccer League (USL) affiliate, on Thursday. The terms of the deal will not be released per club policy.

Rasheed was a standout defender for the Greyhounds in his three seasons with the team, playing in 52 games with 47 starts for UIndy. He also racked up a plethora of awards in his time with the Greyhounds, earning two GLVC Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2020 and 2021, two All-GLVC First-Team honors, a D2CCA All-Midwest Region First-Team recognition in 2021, garnered a 2021 D2CCA All-American Second-Team nod, and was selected to the 2021 NCAA DII All-Tournament team.

Even as one of the teams' primary defenders, Rasheed still found ways to make an impact on the stat sheet, tallying nine goals and five assists on 46 shots over his final two seasons with the Greyhounds. A goal against Ashland that sparked a late 3-2 comeback win for the Greyhounds to conclude an unbeaten weekend in Columbus, Ohio to start the team's 2021 run to the Final Four, was one of the many highlights in Rasheed's stellar tenure with the Hounds.

Rasheed was selected in the MLS SuperDraft Third Round, 65th overall, by Nashville SC in 2023, and later joined the likes of Tormenta FC, after spending seasons with Huntsville City FC and Asheville City SC.
