Steinwascher, Rasheed Tabbed to D2CCA All-America List

POMONA, Calif. – Alejandro Steinwascher and Makel Rasheed of the University of Indianapolis men's soccer team have earned a spot on the 2021 edition of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-America Second Team, officials announced on Wednesday.

In total, 39 student-athletes from 29 institutions are represented on the three All-America teams. The teams were selected by sports information directors at schools and conferences that sponsor men's soccer.

Steinwascher has pulled in a team-leading 14 goals, 10 assists and 38 points this season for UIndy. The Sterling Heights, Mich., native and 2021 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year has been the offensive spark in the Hounds' current Final Four run by having scored at least one point in five of the six postseason matchups. This accolade is one of many for Steinwascher in his stellar career on the pitch. Currently, he rides in fifth on the DII active career points scored leaderboard (101).

Rasheed, the 2021 GLVC Defensive Player of the Year, makes an appearance after guiding a UIndy defense that has allowed just 15 goals through 21 matches (0.699 GAA). He is one of just 10 players on the team who have appeared in all 21 matches this season. Along with his defensive success, Rasheed has notched five goals and three assists on offense for 13 total points.

The Hounds are set to compete in the national semifinal on Thursday in Colorado Springs, Colo., beginning at 10 p.m. ET against No. 5 Charleston (WV).
