INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's soccer team jumped three spots in the
NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings, released Monday, coming in at No. 9 in Super Region 3. New to Division II this year, NPI evaluates a team's season by considering both results and the strength of the teams it plays.
The primary purpose of NPI is to compare teams within Division II for ranking and NCAA championship selection. Once automatic qualifiers are determined, remaining teams are considered for at-large selection based on NPI ranking until the championship field is filled. NPI may also play a role in championship seeding. Seeding and bracketing procedures vary by division and sport. Click/tap the links above for more information.
The NCAA tournament selections being announced on Nov. 9. Ten teams from each of the four Super Regions will earn a postseason bid.
