INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2023-24 indoor season at home with the Scott Fangman Invitational. This meet was named in honor of recently retired Scott Fangman who spent 27 years with the program.
Prior to the start of competition, Fangman was joined by friends, family and supporters to share stories and memories.

When the action got going, 14 Greyhounds finished first in their respective events. Eight in total for the women with three in field events, and five in running events. The men finished with six total first-place finishes. Three of them were on the track and three were in field events.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Hallie Montgomery took home first in two running events for the Greyhounds. Montgomery ran the 60-meter dash in 7.78 seconds and the 200m run she crossed in 25.44 seconds.
Ailliyah Reese competed in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.87 seconds to earn first place.
Emily Sonderman won her heat in the 400 meter 59.98, good for second place overall. In the 3000m,
Hailey Orosz clocked a time of 10:33.73, giving her first place.
In the field,
Ellie Lengerich took home first in the high jump (1.64m) and long jump (5.50).
Sabrina Robison placed first in the pole vault after reaching a height of 3.70 meters and notching a provisional mark.

MEN'S RECAP
Alex Meyer was a standout in the field for UIndy. Competing in both the high jump (2.03m) and long jump (6.95m), Meyer finished first and second, respectively. His high lump mark was good for an NCAA provo.
Samuel Summers also competed in the long jump where he took home first, reaching 6.98 meters. Kaden Edwards earned first in the shot put after he hit 15.15 meters.
On the track,
Ndubisi Eze ran the 60-meter hurdles. Eze crossed the finish line first with a time of 8.28 seconds. In the 800 meter,
Tom Saint-Juvin took home first after clocking a time of 2:00.31.

UP NEXT
The track and field teams will travel to nearby Indiana State on Friday, Dec. 8 to compete in the John Garland Invitational. The field and running events will both start at 5:30 inside the ISU Indoor Track and Field Facility in Terre Haute, Ind.
