INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 9-ranked University of Indianapolis women's tennis team came away with one major award and four All-GLVC first team honors at this years GLVC Tournament banquet. Maria Fiacan, one of the few true freshmen on the Greyhounds teams this year, came away with the GLVC Freshman of the Year nod, becoming just the fourth UIndy student-athlete to garner the awards, and the eighth overall in program history.
 
For Fiacan's freshman campaign, she went a staggering 12-6 with a 4-1 mark in conference action, playing every spot minus the No. 1 slot. Doubles she was a constant, playing with four different partners but still accumulating a 10-8 record.
 
Outside of Fiacan, Anna Novikova, Lea Cakarevic and Margarita Andreiuk earned All-GLVC First Team Honors, with Novikova being the only other unanimous selection aside from the player of the year.

As well as major awards, the 2023 GLVC James R Spalding Sportsmanship Honoree's list was announced with Fiacan making it a triple award day for the freshman.
