GREENWOOD, Ind. - Four UIndy student-athletes were named to the 2024 Academic All-District® team on Tuesday, which recognizes the nation's top individuals for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All honorees must meet the minimum requirement of a 3.5 cumulative GPA, while also making significant on-the-court contributions.
Sophia Parlanti headlines the quartet of Greyhounds, who is eligible for Academic All-America® voting next month. The senior wrapped up her three-year UIndy career this fall, voted All-GLVC Second Team after averaging 4.09 kills/set with a .242 hitting percentage. The Las Vegas native will earn her third straight Academic All-GLVC honor next summer.
Joining Parlanti were sophomores
Macy Bruton,
Riley Laine, and
Ellie Spang, eligible for the first time in their young careers. Spang was the primary libero for the second straight season, scooping up 4.7 digs/set, while Bruton ranked third on the team with 221 total digs. Laine produced 75.0 blocks at the net during her second collegiate campaign, totaling 170 kills and 31 service aces.
