UIndy Student-Athletes Combine for Impressive Semester GPA

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis athletic department announced Friday that its 641 student-athletes combined for a lofty 3.42 grade point average for the 2024 fall semester. Individually, 344 Greyhounds managed a 3.5 or better while 85 had a perfect 4.0.

"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes and their continued pursuit of academic excellence," said Andrea Walker, Senior Woman Administrator and Associate A.D. for Academics. "Our student-athletes recognize that their commitment to academic success is as important as their dedication to athletic achievement.

"This is one of the highest GPAs our athletic department has seen, and it is due to our student-athletes and coaches making their academic experience the cornerstone of their journey. They continually strive to excel in the classroom and athletically and this is a testament of that commitment."

Fresh off its inaugural season, the women's triathlon team led all UIndy squads in the classroom with a fall GPA of 3.73. Leading the men's squads was men's golf and its 3.69 team GPA. Fourteen of the department's 23 athletic programs* compiled a team GPA of 3.50 or better. The overall departmental GPA was the highest on record outside of the COVID-ladened spring semester of 2020.

* indoor and outdoor track & field were combined for GPA purposes
