INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball team appeared in the first set of NCAA DII Regional Rankings for the 2024 season, released Wednesday.
This year, the first regional rankings included teams in alphabetical order only, with numerical rankings set to be included in next week's release. The top seven schools in the region will make the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament, which is set to be played between May 18-21 with the No. 1- and No. 2-seeded schools playing hosts.
The Greyhounds have 16 total NCAA tournament appearances, with their most recent being exciting to say the least. Just a season ago the Hounds made history as the first No. 7-seed to reach the College World Series, dethroning UIS and Maryville in the regional and eventually Quincy in the Super-Regional on the way.
The Hounds carry an all-time record of 27-32 while claiming the regional crown in both 2000, 2012 and 2023. The Hounds are looking to make their second straight dance, a feat they have not accomplished since the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
UIndy has only two more series left in the regular season before postseason action begins. After their game with Findlay today, the Hounds will welcome in the Truman State Bulldogs and then hit to road at Lewis.
