INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team took care of business on Saturday against Southwest Baptist, winning 70-48.
The Greyhounds were led by a trio of double-digit scorers; Elana Wells with 19, Patricia Chikamba with 16, and Jaelynne Murray with 11. This is the seventh time this season in which the Hounds have had three double-digit scorers in one game.
INS & OUTS
UIndy jumped out to a quick 12-point lead after 11 minutes of action. The Hounds' defense was stifling early, only surrendering three made field goals to the Bearcats the entire first quarter.
The Hounds defense continued their first-half dominance by forcing 11 Bearcat turnovers, outscoring Southwest Baptist 9-3 on fast break points in the first half, and taking an eight-point lead to the half.
As tough as the Hounds played on defense, their offense was just as dominant, going on multiple scoring runs throughout the second half, including a 13-3 run to close out the final eight minutes of action. Wells led the way with seven points during that run, ending her game with 19 points on 6-10 shooting with two 3-pointers.Â
