Gavin Sukup was announced as one of 36 players nominated for the 2025 Harlon Hill Trophy, giving annually to the Division II College Football Player of the Year. Sukup is one of only eight Super Region 3 candidates and one of 20 seniors on the ballot.

The sports information directors at the 159 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions nominate and vote on the prestigious award. The 36 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on Monday, Dec. 1. The winner of the 2025 award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 19.

Sukup was
recently announced as the 2025 GLVC Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the first-ever three-time recipient of the award. The Seward, Neb., native leads all Division II players in completion percentage and passing efficiency while ranking second in touchdown passes and third in passing yards. He and the Greyhounds have racked up 11 wins to date, with a second-round playoff matchup versus No. 21 Minnesota State on tap for Saturday, Nov. 29.
