INDIANAPOLIS - The men's and women's track and field teams totaled 17 podium finishes to conclude the 2024 GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Both squads placed third in the final team standings, with the women earning 101 points anmd the men 76. The Lewis Flyers won the women's title with 182.5 points and Lincoln won the men's title with 129 points in their first year as a GLVC member.

Jorjia Ferguson was named the GLVC Women's Indoor Freshman of the Year after her success during the meet. Ferguson placed second in the pentathlon and fifth in the 60m hurdles. The freshman was also a part of the women's fourth-place 4x400m team, where she was the leadoff runner.

SUNDAY
Josue Le Cadre continued to find success on day two of the meet. Le Cadre took first in the 800m (1:52.06) and helped anchor the men's 4x400m team to a second-place finish. The sophomore was the final runner for the Hounds and had the team's fastest leg at 49.41 seconds.

Felix Rivet claimed two third-place finishes in the distance events. He started the day with the mile run, finishing in 4:19.01. Rivet ended the day in the 3000m, where he edged past Illinois Springfield's Isaac Cortes in the final 60m. The junior finished the 15 laps in 7:58.24--0.18 seconds faster than Cortes.

Cameron Smith and
Hannah Dart took second in their respective competitions in the shot put. Smith reached 16.23m in his final attempt, a new personal best for the senior. Dart, a freshman, also picked up a new season best mark with 13.48m.

Mackenzie VanBibber placed second in the women's pole vault after clearing 3.73m. In the high jump,
Alex Meyer cleared 2.02m for second in the men's competition and
Ellie Lengerich took third in the women's with 1.62m.

Hailey Orosz rounded out the Greyhound medalists with her second-place finish in the mile. Orosz completed the race in 4:59.50, only 1.31 seconds behind the winning time.

SATURDAY
The Greyhounds' throwing squad was successful during the weight throw competition.
Cameron Smith started the group off strong in the men's event, taking third with a mark of 17.87m. The women's team had six Greyhounds finish inside the top eight.
Zoe Pentecost claimed her third consecutive title in the weight throw with a season best 19.53m to win.
Audra Hogan took second with 18.67m, uppping her chances at qualifying for Nationals.

Alex Meyer was the sole jumper to reach the podium on day one. Meyer placed second in the long jump after reaching 7.36m.

Three Greyhounds made it to Sunday's 60m hurdles finals.
Caressa Addison (9.32) and Ferguson (9.19) will compete for the women's title and
Jack Scoggins (8.66) will race in the men's final.

The UIndy DMR teams both earned a spot on the podium to end day one. The women's team placed third with a time of 12:11.32. The men (10:01.76) were in a battle with Lewis for first, but the Flyers inched past the Greyhounds in the final lap.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds now wait to see who will compete in the 2025 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in just under two weeks. The three-day event will begin on Thursday, March 13 in Indianapolis at the State Fairground's Fall Creek Pavilion.
