AZUSA, Cal. - The UIndy men's and women's track and field teams had a busy week. The Greyhounds competed in three different meets, in three different states, over four days. Five student-athletes made the trip west to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational, the throwers competed at Hillsdale in Michigan, and the remainder of the team traveled to nearby Indiana State to compete.
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
Only five Greyhounds made the trip west to compete in one of the largest outdoor meets in the country. Hosted by Azusa Pacific in California, some of the best athletes from all NCAA divisions competed at the event over a three-day period. The Hounds found success on the West Coast despite the tough competition.
Felix Rivet kicked off the trip strong by breaking the program record in the 3000m steeplechase on Wednesday. Rivet broke the school record in this event earlier this season at the
WashU Distance Carnival. This time around, the Frenchman finished in 8:47.12, 8.6 seconds faster than his previous time. Rivet competed in the open category of the race and finished 12th out of 106 runners.
On Thursday,
Josue Le Cadre also broke a school record that he already held. Le Cadre did this in the 800m with a time of 1:46.79. The Frenchman competed in the Elite race, which featured 17 of the top runners in this event. Le Cadre placed fifth, beating Sebastian Fernandez from Brigham Young by one-thousandth of a second.
Tom Saint-Juvin also ran in the 800m but in the Invite section. Saint-Juvin placed 75th after clocking 1:51.00.
Emily Sonderman was the only member of the women's team to make the trip. Sonderman ran in the 400m dash and clocked 56.36, placing 28th overall.
Alex Meyer was the sole Greyhound to compete in a field event at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Meyer competed in the long jump, placing fourth after reaching 7.22m. The sophomore competed against over 40 competitors and was the highest placing athlete from NCAA DII.
55th ANNUAL HILLSDALE "GINA" RELAYS
The Greyhound throwers traveled north to compete in the 55th annual Hillsdale "GINA" Relay on Thursday and Friday.
Faith Hensel reached the DII Provo mark in the shot put after competing in the championship competition. Hensel reached 14.00m, which puts her inside the top 25 in the event.
Macie Swinehart placed second and third in the discus and hammer throw open, respectively. The sophomore reached 42.69m in the discus and 47.88m in the hammer.
MaKenna Maschino placed fifth in the championship hammer throw competition with a mark of 51.28m.
Amanda Noel was the sole Hound to compete in the javelin in Michigan. Noel placed fifth with 36.36m.
On the men's side,
Cameron Smith and
Dylan Mayhew competed in the hammer throw and shot put championship competitions. Mayhew took third in the hammer with 54.54m and fourth in the shot put at 15.62m. Smith placed sixth in the hammer (52.07m) and seventh in shot (14.42m).

Cole Hurt and
Aiden DeLaTorre had their first chance to compete in the decathlon this season. Hurt placed seventh after earning 6267 points. The senior placed fourth in three events: shot put, discus, and javelin. DeLaTorre gathered 5071 points to place 16th. His best event was the 1500m; the junior clocked 5:10.73 to place seventh in the final event.
Mackenzie VanBibber continues to climb up the pole vault rankings to earn a spot at the Championships next month. VanBibber cleared 3.85m, which puts her inside the top 25.
Ellie Lengerich ran a season-best 1:04.16 in the 400m hurdles to place 11th. Teammate
Cloey Simon was not far behind her, placing 14th with 1:05.30.
Josiah Adams set a new PR in the 400m dash. Adams completed his lap in 48.46 to place 11th overall.
The men's 4x100m relay ran a season-best 42.30 at the meet to place ninth. Running in the relay was,

UP NEXT
With one weekend of competition remaining until the GLVC Championships, the Hounds will head to two different meets to increase their marks before the conference meet. Some athletes will go to Ashland, Ohio, to compete in the 15th Ashland Alumni Open on Friday, April 25, through Saturday, the 26th. Others will head to Wilmington, Ohio for the Wilmington College Invite on Saturday.
