BOLIVAR, Mo. - The UIndy men's golf team advanced to match/medal round of the GLVC Championship after placing fourth in the 54-hole stroke play. This year's iteration was held at the Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. Due to the weather conditions, only one round was played yesterday, with the final 36 holes today.
Just four teams advanced to Tuesday morning's match place semifinals, with UMSL, Missouri S&T, and Lewis also surviving to Tuesday. UMSL/UIndy pairings will play at 9 a.m. ET tomorrow, with S&T/Lewis simultaneously playing as well. The winners will face off in the afternoon finals with the GLVC trophy on the line.
INS & OUTS
Cameron Young earned All-GLVC honors with his top five finish. Young placed second with a final score of -3 (68-71-74). The sophomore led the pack for most of the tournament but couldn't surge back after a trio of bogies on the back nine. Overall, Young collected 13 birdies during the stroke play, six of which came during the first round.
Alexander Nestun finished +3 (72-73-35) and earned a share of 14th place.
Drew Rowen tied for 25th at +6 (76-76-70). Rowen grabbed five birdies on the final 18 to jump up in the standings.
Joseph Armfield and
Jackson Watkins were the final two Greyhounds to compete in the lineup. Armfield t-35th after shooting +9 (78-78-69). The sophomore capped the score play by scoring -3 in the final round. Watkins placed 69th with a final score of +22 (82-78-78).
