Steve Barrick was promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Sport Performance & Facilities, UIndy alum
Ben Souza earned the title of Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations, and UIndy swimming & diving head coach
Brent Noble added Recruitment & Enrollment Coordinator to his duties.
"I am excited to announce the well-deserved promotions of Steve Barrick,
Ben Souza, and Brent Noble," said
Kim Pate. "All three individuals are incredibly talented and committed to making our UIndy student-athlete experience top notch. They have truly stepped up to fill some gaps since I arrived, and I think it's incredibly important to acknowledge people's hard work, commitment, and contributions. I look forward to seeing their continued impact on Greyhound Athletics as we look to advance the strategic vision and goals for the department."
Barrick continues his duties as head of the strength and conditioning department, which consists of three full-time coaches, one graduate assistant, and volunteer coaches. Barrick oversees the nutrition station as well as supervising the athletics weight room. Barrick will now also assist with providing support and leadership to the day-to-day facilities management and game operations, working directly with
Jake Berry and
Andrea Aguayo on ensuring a high-quality experience for student-athletes, recruits and the overall game day experience. Barick will serve on the athletics senior administrative leadership team, helping to develop and carry out the strategic vision and goals for the department.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to expand my role within the athletic department," Barrick said. "I would like to thank our Athletic Director
Kim Pate, our administrative staff, and our coaches for their support in me making this move. At the end of the day, I want to make sure that everyone in our department and our student-athletes know that we are all working together to win in the classroom, in the community, and in the athletic arenas. I'm very excited about the present and the future of UIndy Athletics and the University of Indianapolis community as a whole."
A recent alum,
Ben Souza has quickly climbed the ranks within the UIndy athletics administration. Souza manages all business aspects related to the athletics department, including managing budgets, financial reporting, purchasing, contracts, coordinating transportation, and assisting with NCAA postseason bids and hosting championships. Additionally, Souza assists Pate and the rest of the department with special projects and other administrative duties. Ben will continue to serve on the athletics administrative leadership team, helping to develop and carry out the strategic vision and goals for the department.
"I'm truly honored and excited to step into this new role," said Souza. "The past few years have been a whirlwind—transitioning from student-athlete to graduate assistant, and now to Assistant A.D. I'm deeply grateful to our entire staff for their incredible support throughout my journey. I also want to thank
Kim Pate, who, despite us only knowing each other for a short time, has shown tremendous belief in me. I look forward to the years ahead and to continuing my part in supporting all of our athletic programs."
Brent Noble continues to add to his plate, following his role on the 2023 UIndy men's swimming & diving national championship season. He assists UIndy coaches through the recruiting process with connections to resources, streamlining efforts, and working to create a more efficient recruiting process. Noble also tracks and projects enrollment within the athletic department. Brent will continue to serve on the athletics administrative leadership team, helping to develop and carry out the strategic vision and goals for the department.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve the department and assist our coaches in bringing individuals to UIndy who are best suited to continually enhance our success and experience here on campus and within athletics," said Noble.
