INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's golf team begins its season in Allendale, Mich. at the Folds of Honor Challenge on Monday Sept. 15 at The Meadows Golf Club.
The two-day event is compiled of 10 teams, with four of those teams being recognized in the top-25, or received votes, to begin the season. The host Grand Valley State is the highest ranked among those five teams. The Greyhounds last played in this event in
2023.
"We are super excited for our first event next week," head coach Andy Serketich said. "Roster wise, we have 5 returners and 4 new players (2 freshmen and 2 transfers). We have a great mix of experience returning and new players who are ready to contribute."
UIndy returns a good amount of experience from last season with;
Alexander Nestun,
Drew Rowen,
Jackson Watkins,
Joseph Armfield, and
Justin Repovs, all coming back for the 2025 season. Of the five returners, four of them posted at least two
top-25 finishes in 2024.
The Hounds also add four new golfers to their roster this season that arrive with plenty of experience to help bolster the team;
Andrew Johnson,
Fredrik Rønnov,
Isac Fredriksson, and
Theo Morris. Johnson joins the Hounds via transfer after one year at Morehead State, while the other Greyhound transfer, Fredriksson, arrives after spending his junior season at GLVC rival William Jewell, where he posted a 76 scoring average over 31 rounds. Morris and Rønnov, both freshman, come to UIndy from overseas where they both had distinguished playing careers in Europe.
"We have a great group of guys who are dedicated and determined to be successful on and off the course," Serketich said. "With almost half our team being new, qualifying has been a good battle the last few weeks and we are ready to get a barometer of where we're at early in the year."
"We also want to give a huge thank you to our families, alums and friends for all of their continued support," said Serketich.
