UIndy Alum Promoted to Assistant A.D. for Creative Content & Digital Strategy

INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy Deputy A.D. for External Operations & Revenue Generation Jake Berry announced Wednesday the promotion of Cody Wainscott to Assistant A.D. for Creative Content and Digital Strategy, effective October 1. A UIndy alum, Wainscott previously served as Sports Information Director for more than six years with a stint as Director of Communications at the Great Lakes Valley Conference sandwiched between.

"This is a major win for UIndy," said Berry. "Cody's passion for Greyhound Athletics is unmatched, and it shows in everything he does. Our student-athletes and coaches are accomplishing incredible things, and Cody's expertise and creativity will allow us to share their stories and celebrate their success in new and engaging ways."

"I'm incredibly grateful and excited for this new role at my alma mater," said Wainscott. "We have an opportunity to expand our brand and elevate the student-athlete experience at UIndy and I'm ready to hone my focus in on our strategy and how we get there. I appreciate Kim Pate and Jake's trust in me to help us raise the bar in our storytelling and I'm excited for the opportunity to work with all 25 of our programs so that we can exceed it."

Wainscott will focus on showcasing UIndy student-athletes' stories through high-quality visual content, including graphics, video, and photography. While maintaining brand standards set forth by the University and athletics department, Wainscott will serve as the liaison to UIndy TV and GLVCSN broadcasts, as well as executing strategy centered around social media and digital promotion. Additionally, Wainscott will lead all media days for UIndy athletic teams, work with every program to maintain consistent messaging across social media platforms and work directly with the Communications and Marketing offices to elevate Greyhound Athletics to a new level.

"Cody will also play a key part in growing the UIndy Athletics brand across Indianapolis and beyond by engaging our fans and supporters and making them an active part of the Greyhound Athletics story," concluded Berry.

In addition to maintaining the department's content calendar, Wainscott will assemble a team of creators to promote UIndy Athletics to the highest possible standard. With the department's focus on visual storytelling, Wainscott will work to merge the UIndy brand with the city's core of sports powerhouses, such as the Colts, Pacers, Fever, Indians, and Fuel, while making Greyhound Athletics synonymous with Indianapolis.

Wainscott previously worked in the sports information office at Lindenwood University from 2015-17 after serving as an intern for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the spring of 2015 while a senior at UIndy. At Lindenwood, Wainscott assumed ownership of social media strategy for a department that had the most sports across all NCAA divisions at the time. In his five months with the G-MAC, Wainscott created highlight videos and produced weekly content pertaining to Conference releases.
