INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Over the weekend, the UIndy men's tennis team will compete in the ITA Midwest Regional, a three-day long individual event beginning this Saturday, Sept. 27.
The Greyhounds come into the tournament with seven returners from last year's team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA DII men's tennis championship, polling 9th in the final ITA rankings.
Headlining the returners is Mathieu Derache, a 2025 First-Team All-GLVC honoree with a career singles record of 34-10. Last season, Derache posted a career-high 15-3 record in singles competition, and looks to lead the Hounds for the 2025-2026 campaign.
Asier Ayllon Prado, the 2025 GLVC Freshman of the Year, enters this tournament seeded 4th in the A-Flight singles draw. Ayllon Prado finished last season with a 20-2 singles record, earning a regional singles ranking of #17 in the final ITA release.
Tadeo Gaggiofatto returns to the lineup after leading the Hounds' in singles wins last season (22). Last season, the Midwest Region's Player to Watch claimed the highest singles win percentage (95.7%) since Nils Hoffacker in 2019. (96.3%)
Among the newcomers, Norfolk State transfer Vladislav Gorbatenko comes to UIndy with 20 collegiate singles wins at the Division I level. The 2024 All-MEAC selection will make his debut as the #2 overall seed in the B-Flight Draw.
Also debuting for the Hounds are freshmen Jovan Matovic, Zaid Shelbaya, and Arda Aroyo.
