INDIANAPOLIS– The University of Indianapolis men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Indiana Tech and the Indiana State Fairgrounds for their first competitions of 2026. The Hounds saw a total of 57 top-ten finishers between both competitions.
INDIANA TECH INVITATIONAL
The Greyhounds took a two-hour bus ride to Fort Wayne to compete in the Indiana Tech Invitational, where they faced off against six other teams, including Taylor, Marian, Harris-Stowe, Huntington and host Indiana Tech, on Friday.
Junior Alex Meyer took first place in the men's long jump with a provisional mark of 7.29m, while Francesca Maurino claimed the top spot in the high jump for the hounds with her jump of 1.66. Amarion Conyers was the top finishing Hound in the men's high jump with a fourth-place finish and a jump of 1.96m.
Indianapolis saw three first-place finishers in the throws, with Vivian Osagie taking the top spot in the women's shot put with a toss of 13.89m. Sophomore Loria Snowden finished just behind Osagie with her throw of 13.52m. Junior Macie Swinehart found a new personal record in the weight throw in her final toss of the competition, hitting 17.23m to move her into first place. Dylan Mayhew hit another provisional mark in the weight throw with his first-place finish and a new personal record of 18.92. Mayhew was also the top Greyhound in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.31m. UIndy also claimed spots 3-5 in the event, with freshman Benjamin Booren finishing just behind Mayhew with a throw of 15.25 m. Bryson Adams claimed fourth place with a toss of 14.67m and Lance Fields rounded out the top five with a throw of 14.11m.
In the women's pole vault, senior Mackenzie Vanbibber and freshman Maleah Bostock both cleared 3.55m to tie for third. In the men's pole vault, Frank Decker cleared 4.50m for a new personal record and a fifth-place finish. Junior Keywuan Taylor was just behind him with a sixth-place finish, clearing 4.50m.
Freshman Amiah Rhodes took second place in the women's 400m with a time of 1:00.75. Brailey Hoagland took a sixth-place finish in the same race, clocking 1:01.43. Hoagland was also the top Greyhound finisher in the women's 200 with a time of 26.81 to take third for the Hounds.
In the men's 200, Lateef Mustafaa was the top Greyhound with a third-place finish, clocking 22.68 for a new personal best. Mustafaa also led the Greyhounds in the men's 400m with a fourth-place finish, finishing in 50.94. UIndy also claimed fifth through seventh in the race with Ryan Linenkugel finishing 51.01 just in front of Jalen Larkey, who crossed in 51.04 for fifth and sixth place. Ruley Buroff rounded out the top Greyhounds with a time of 51.13 and a seventh-place finish. Curt Dahncke sealed a second-place finish with a new personal best of 2:34.2. Ian Pugh also secured a second-place finish for UIndy with a new personal best of 4:21.93, just in front of his teammate Conyer Wilson, with a personal best of his own, clocking 4:24.27 for third place.
HOOSIER HORSEPOWER CLASSIC
The French trio of Josue Le Cadre, Yannis Le Mouillour and Felix Rivet took the short trip to the Indiana State Fairgrounds to face Division I competition in the men's 800m. Le Cadre claimed the top spot, beating out athletes from Purdue, IU Indianapolis, Loyola Chicago, and Butler with a time of 1:48.43. Lemouillour took second just behind Le Cadre with a new personal best of 1:49.47. Rivet also found a new personal best with his fourth-place finish in a time of 1:50.21.
