SPRINGFIELD, Ohio— The University of Indianapolis men's and women's track and field squads took the trek to Springfield, Ohio, to compete at the Wittenberg Steemer Showcase on Saturday.
The one-day competition featured 21 teams from across the NAIA, Division I, Division II and Division III.
In the shot put Vivian Osagie gave another dominant performance with a first-place toss of 14.95 meters, nearly two meters ahead of the rest of the field. Osagie's new personal record places her 12th on the NCAA Division II provisional list in the women's shot put. The Hounds were able to sweep first through fourth in both women's throwing competitions, with Amanda Noel (13.02m), Loria Snowden (12.75m) and Macie Swinehart (12.75m) rounding out the top four in the women's shot. Sophomore Maya Efodi secured the top spot in the women's weight competition with her toss of 16.94m, followed by Swinehart (16.18m), Osagie (15.64m) and Annie Thoman (15.45m).
Dylan Mayhew led the Greyhounds in both the men's throwing events, finishing second in both weight with a toss of 18.98m and shot with a best effort of 16.32m.Freshman William Kemper took third in the men's weight throwing 17.59m, followed by Tyler Biddinger in fourth place with a mark of 17.50m.
Amiah Rhodes secured a first-place finish in the women's 400m with a new personal record of 58.56. The freshman also took third in the long jump with a leap of 4.53m.
In the women's pole vault, UIndy was able to take second and third-place finishes courtesy of a Maleah Bostock personal record of 3.65m and Elise Krodel's successful attempt at 3.55m. Bostock's new mark places her in the top three competitors of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Riley Buroff took third in the men's high jump competition, clearing 1.99m, while Jorjia Ferguson clocked 9.13 in the women's 60m hurdles for a third-place finish of her own. With their new marks, both Hounds moved to third in the conference this season.
In the men's 60m hurdles Ryan Linelkugel was UIndy's top finisher clock 8.55 for a fifth-place finish. Just behind him Kevion Mitchell secured sixth with a time of 8.60.
