CLEVELAND, Ohio — Senior runner and UIndy Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President Emma Gaston was selected to the Allstate National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Good Works Team (Winter), the organization announced Tuesday morning.Â
The Monrovia, Ind., native is one of just 20 student-athletes across all NCAA divisions, Junior / Community College and NAIA selected to the winter team.
"The honor of representing UIndy nationally is both meaningful and impactful," Gaston said. "This honor is truly a direct reflection of the UIndy athletics department, whose mission is rooted in service learning, leadership, and striving for excellence."
From NACDA
"The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is made up of 60 student-athletes (20 per season) across all sanctioned men's and women's college sports and divisions who go above and beyond in volunteerism and civic engagement, complementing their achievements in academics and sports.
Cross country and track & field student-athlete Emma Gaston excels as both a scholar and campus leader at the University of Indianapolis. A dedicated servant, she supports individuals with end-stage dementia and Alzheimer's at Joy's House, a nonprofit serving adults living with life-altering diagnoses and their families. Her commitment to care extends to her work as a medical camp counselor at Bradford Woods, her fundraising leadership for the Jackson Center—where she helped raise over $110,000—and her service at multiple camps supporting children and families navigating disability or grief. On campus, Emma has held multiple roles within UIndy SAAC, where she now serves as President and helped launch the Hounds Leadership Academy. She was the only student-athlete selected to serve on the latest University's Athletics Director Search Committee and is currently implementing a campus-wide action plan to prevent substance misuse and hazing after attending the 2025 APPLE Training Institute. Academically distinguished, Emma is a multi-scholarship recipient, a member of several honor societies, a 10-time letterwinner, and a three-time Academic All-GLVC honoree."
