INDIANAPOLIS – After appearing in the
Midwest Region rankings for the first time last week, the UIndy baseball team earned the No. 7 spot in this week's edition of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional rankings, released Wednesday. Today's move up two spots comes after a series sweep against Lewis over the weekend.Â
The Hounds are joined by four other GLVC opponents in the rankings this week, joining the likes of; Drury, Illinois Springfield, Missouri S&T, and UMSL. The Greyhounds would be in the regional field if the tournament started today, with the top eight teams from the Midwest region earning themselves a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.Â
The complete field of teams will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 10, with the NCAA DII Midwest Regional set to begin on Thursday May 14 and run through Saturday May 17. The top two seeds from each region will each host games that are a part of the eight-team double-elimination bracket. The winners of both sections of the bracket will then play a best-of-three series on May 21-23 in the NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional.Â
