2008 Game-by-Game Statistics

2007: Played in 10 games, starting on each occasion ... tallied 16 total tackles on the season ... had half of his total in the final two games, registering four each at Mercyhurst (11/3/07) and at Northwood (11/10/07) ... recovered a fumble at Grand Valley State (10/13/07) ... picked-off a pass at Mercyhurst.

2006:  Started all eleven games as a sophomore linebacker … corralled 58 ball carriers, good for third on the team … recorded at least two tackles in every game … recovered a fumbled on the kickoff team and returned it 20 yards for a score versus Findlay (9/30) … recorded lone sack of the season in win over Michigan Tech ...  tallied a season-high eight takles on three occasions, most recently versus No. 1 Grand Valley, a game that also included a QB hurry (10/14). 

2005:  Starred for the Greyhounds as a freshman linebacker … played in all eleven games while starting the final eight … finished with 67 tackles, good for second on the squad, 5.5 TFL and 2 sacks … recorded at least one tackle in every game, including at least six tackles in every game started … returned a kickoff for 16 yards in debut versus Hillsdale (8/27) … registered seven tackles, a quarterback hurry and broke up a pass in a win at Ferris State (9/17) … had a three-game streak of at least one tackle for a loss (10/8-10/22) … capped rookie campaign with season-high eleven tackles including nine solo grapples at Ashland (11/5).

Personal:  Majoring in medicine … graduated fifth in class at Franklin Central … also elected to student council … son of Mark and Pam Umphress … born 5/1/87.

High School:  Twice earned all-state accolades … led team in tackles as a junior and senior …  made IFCA "Top 50" All-State and All-Marion County in senior campaign … also made academic all-state … qualified for regionals as a shot put thrower.
