BIG RAPIDS, Mich.-  Freshmen Patrick Bourne and Mar'Quone Edmonds each had a pair of touchdowns as the visiting Greyhounds cruised past host Ferris State, 34-7 at Top Taggart Field Saturday afternoon.  The Hounds broke a five-game slump with the win and kept FSU winless in the conference on the season.

Defensive lineman Josh Martin set-up the first Greyhounds score, grabbing an interception in Bulldog territory.  Three plays later, Paul Corsaro took a quarterback draw four yards to the endzone and a 7-0 UIndy advantage. The Hounds' second score would come after the defense snuffed out a 4th-down attempt in their own territory to give the ball back to the offense.

UIndy (2-5, 1-5 GLIAC) converted on 4th-and-8 at the FSU 27-yardline, to extend a 10-play drive that ended with Bourne's first score, a 14-yard scamper up the middle for a 14-0 margin.  The Hounds offense was impressive, but it was the defense and special teams units that set the table for the five Greyhounds scores.

Ryan Forney, with his 48-yard punt return, put the Hounds just 23 yards from paydirt with under two minutes to play in the first half.  From there, Bourne rattled-off runs of 3 and 12 yards before Rob Doyle found Edmonds from 8 yards out and a decisive 20-0 halftime score.

At the break, Indianapolis completely dominated the statistics, allowing just 47 offensive yards and one first down in the opening 30 minutes.  Conversely, UIndy tallied 11 first downs and showed good balance with 76 yards rushing and 74 more through the air.

In the second half, Danny Goff and Randall Courtney gave UIndy its first scoring opportunity as Goff forced a fumble and Courtney pounced on it in Bulldog territory.  The offense then converted on three straight third down opportunities, the final another 8-yard scoring pass to Edmonds on third and goal as UIndy began to run away with the game during Ferris State's homecoming festivities.

#J.T. Owens# thwarted Ferris' best scoring opportunity to that point, picking-off a Kyle Parrish pass at his own 6-yardline just one play after FSU had gained an interception itself.  A demoralizing, 13-play, 94-yard drive ensued as UIndy gobbled-up nearly six minutes of clock with the clincher a 5-yard run by Bourne for a lopsided 34-0 score.

Ferris (1-6, 0-6) finally got on the board and spoiled the shutout when Parrish hooked-up with Chris Wilson for a 20-yard TD toss early in the fourth quarter.  From there, the Greyhound reserves were charged with salting the game away and did so with two drives erasing more than eight minutes off the scoreboard clock, leaving the Bulldogs little time to operate offensively.

All told, the Greyhounds commanded the ball for 37:28 on the game while allowing just a single third-down conversion all day (1-for-12).  The defense allowed just 201 total yards, had three takeaways and totaled five sacks on the afternoon.  Two of those sacks belonged to Goff, who also had six tackles.  Mike Dum led all UIndy tacklers with eight total stops while five different Hounds were in on tackles for loss during the win (7.0 TFL).

Bourne had a career-high 127 yards rushing and two TD while Halston Love added 10 carries for 44 yards.  Doyle was 18-for-28 for 106 yards with 2 TD and an INT.  Eight Greyhounds caught passes in the win, led by four by Joe Leach.

The Greyhounds will play their final two home games the following two Saturdays, hosting Michigan Tech before Oct. 24th's homecoming tilt with Tiffin.  Both games are 6:00 p.m. starts.

Notes:  Josh Martin's interception was the first of his collegiate career ... Danny Goff tallied 3.0 tackles for loss, including two sacks ... In two career games at Top Taggart, Goff has 5.0 TFL and four sacks ... the Greyhounds racked-up a season-best 220 yards rushing in the win ... UIndy had just two rushing scores all season heading into this game and scored three on the ground Saturday ... Ryan Forney's 48-yard return was his second longest of the season ... he now has 200 punt return yards on just 10 attempts ... Justin Blakely and Andrean McCoy each got their first carries of the season in the fourth quarter.
