RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The University of Indianapolis baseball team picked up a late run in game two of a doubleheader to earn a split at Arkansas Tech Saturday.  An RBI double from Justin Russell in the sixth proved to be the game winner in the seven-inning second game, as Travis Kempton pitched three solid frames to earn the win.

GAME 1  (9 inn.)
Indianapolis held a 5-0 lead through four-and-a-half innings and a 8-5 advantage after six turns at the plate, but Tech scored four in the fifth and four in the seventh to help earn the win.  UIndy starter Andrew Werner gave up five earned runs but left with the lead after five-plus innings, but the Greyhound bullpen surrendered six Tech runs, including two from David Early, who took the loss.

Junior Chase Kittinger continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-3 in the game, including a two-run jack in the third inning.  The transfer from Rend Lake, who finished the day with an even 1.000 slugging percentage on the season, also added two walks, three RBI and three runs scored in the game.

GAME 2  (7 inn.)
The Wonder Boys (4-5) scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early edge, but UIndy plated three in the third to jump ahead.  A lead-off single from left fielder Kenny Fedrick got the Hounds going and after Adam Akin was hit by a pitch, Kittinger drove in  Fedrick with a base knock before Travis Capps roped a two-run single to center.

Tech chased starter Cory Rupert by getting its first two hitters of the fifth to reach safely.  Kempton came on in relief and immediately allowed a walk and a single, but the senior settled down to retire eight of the final nine Wonder Boys to give the Hounds a chance.

Freshman Scott Lawley singled to center to start the sixth.  Two ground balls followed but Russell smacked a two-out double to bring Lawley home for the eventual game winner.

The Greyhounds (4-2) will remain at Tech Field for a Sunday doubleheader, competing in a pair of neutral-field contests against Northwest Missouri State.  First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
