Late Bellarmine goal downs Greyhounds, 3-2

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- A late goal by visiting Bellarmine proved to be the game-winner against the host Greyhounds, as the Knights came away with a 3-2 victory at Key Stadium on Friday night.  Freshman Bobby Adkins tallied both goals for UIndy for his seventh and eighth of the season.

Indianapolis got out to an early lead on Adkins' first goal in the 26th minute that was assisted by fellow freshman Max Marsh.  The goal came off a rebound that was preceded by a long throw in into the Bellarmine box.

The Hounds would take a 1-0 advantage into the locker room and outshoot the Knights 6-2 in the first half of play.  However, Bellarmine would turn the tide in their favor, equaling the score on a header by Bradley Ash in the 56th minute.

The Knights (4-1-0, 2-1-0 GLVC) got another goal less than two minutes later when Robert Bowling found the back of the net on a shot from 30 yards out.

Adkins tied the score at 2-2 on his team-high eight goal of the season after cracking a shot from 30 yards out that beat the keeper into the upper right-hand corner of the goal in the 61st minute.

The match would remained tied until Will Maddox headed a pass from Ross Hopkins past Greyhound keeper Justin Roberts for the game-winner in the 86th minute.

The loss dropped UIndy to 3-2-2 on 2009 campaign and 1-2-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.  The Hounds will host GLVC foe Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at Key Stadium at 2:30 PM.  A live webstream of the game will be available at athletics.uindy.edu/stream.
