ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis volleyball squad won its 16th match in 17 tries this season with a conference road win at Missouri-St. Louis Friday night at the Mark Twain Building. UIndy toppled the Tritons in four sets, 20-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, aided by 21 digs from sophomore Kara McCarthy.
After dropping the opening set, the Greyhounds banged out three straight to earn the win. In the first, the Tritons (11-6, 2-1 GLVC) used a pair of 7-2 runs and eight UIndy attack errors to go up 1-0, but the Hounds held their hosts to a paltry .038 hitting percentage the balance of the match for the four-set win.
The contest featured a season-high 92 digs from Indianapolis, including a combined 67 from McCarthy, Amy Oldenburg and Kyleigh Turner, with McCarthy's and Oldenburg's totals – 21 and 13, respectively – representing career highs.
Junior Lyndsay Callahan amassed a match-high 19 highs, while Cheneta Morrison was a single dig shy of a triple-double (12 K, 45 A, 9 D).
UIndy (16-1, 2-1) remains in the Show Me State for a Saturday matinee at Missouri S&T. Start time from Rolla, Mo. is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT.
