Drury hands #19 UIndy 3-1 loss

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS- The No. 19 UIndy men's soccer team took a 3-1 loss in GLVC action Sunday at the hands of visiting Drury.

The Greyhounds (10-4-0; 9-3-0 GLVC) nearly jumped on the board in just the fourth minute, with a long ball from Bobby Adkins bouncing off the crossbar.

UIndy did find the back of the net with a ball in the 11th minute, with Joe McGuire tallying his first goal of the year. McGuire took a ball across the box from Casey Castle and finished it into the bottom left corner of the frame to put UIndy up 1-0.

The Panthers (10-5-0; 8-4-0 GLVC) tied the match at 1-1 in the 20th minute, with Alec Nagel scoring into the lower right corner of the frame on a deflected ball in the box. Drury took the lead in the 51st minute on Jack Mathis' fourth goal of the season, on an assist from Taylor Stacy.

Matt Hutchison pushed the Panther lead to 3-1 with a breakaway down the far side, beating UIndy keeper Andrew Verhonik one on one.

Drury out-shot UIndy 15-14 in the match. Verhonik was tabbed with the loss in the net, making seven saves in his 90 minutes of work.

UIndy heads to Rockhurst and William Jewell next weekend to continue on in GLVC play.
